Two Ways to Get a Horse

There are two acquisition paths. Tame a wild horse yourself at one of the random spawn points, or buy one from another player at a Player Stall — there's an active market and horses are always for sale. Either way it's not hidden behind a paywall, unlike many other MMOs.

Spawn Mechanics

Wild horses appear at random points across the whole map and always spawn in pairs, with an average respawn of about 30 minutes. Spawns are contested, so find a spot with no other players around. Appearance changes by each nation's native territory — the rarest colours and looks appear in dangerous, remote areas.

The Taming Minigame (E)

Approach the horse unarmed and press E to begin. Aim toward the direction the game shows — the same white directional lines used in combat — and click. Each correct click combos; a wrong click resets the chain, and every click costs stamina. The minigame does not decide success: it sets the horse's max level and age. Afterward, name it (or discard with X), summon and dismiss with T, and ride using your walk key.

Mount Attributes (5 points per level)
Vitality — health & health regen 60
Condition — stamina & stamina regen 50
Agility — control (turning) 70
Dynamics — acceleration 55

Mounts gain EXP as you ride — with a big boost during mounted combat and long-distance travel. Each level grants 5 attribute points to spend across these four. You can own multiple mounts and switch the active one at the Stablemaster.

The Stablemaster

Found close to the gatehouses of the main cities. Stables start with 3 mount slots (buy more). Services: spend mount attribute points, buy slots, release mounts, change your active mount, and train a mount (refreshes every 22 hours).

Why Mounts Matter

Beyond travel, a horse lets you cross from one castle to another in seconds — a real edge in siege and territory warfare, and the backbone of the cavalry-archer build. Mounted combat is also the fastest way to level a mount thanks to its EXP boost.

Horses FAQ

How do I get a horse in Gloria Victis?
Two ways. Tame a wild horse at one of the random spawn points on the map via a short E-key minigame, or buy one from another player at a Player Stall — many players always have horses for sale. Getting a horse is not paywalled.
Where do horses spawn and how often?
Wild horses appear at random points across the entire map and always spawn in pairs, with an average respawn of about 30 minutes. Pick a quiet spot away from other players, since spawns are contested. Appearance and rarer colours vary by each nation's native territory — the rarest appear in dangerous, remote areas.
How does the taming minigame work?
Approach unarmed and press E to start. Aim toward the direction the game indicates (the same white directional lines as combat) and click. Each correct click combos; a wrong one resets the chain, and each click costs stamina. Importantly, the minigame does not decide whether you tame the horse — it sets the horse's max level and age.
What horse stats should I look for?
At taming a horse has three stats: Age, Level and Maximum Level. Spawn level is not very relevant — aim for high max level (cap is 100) and low age. Once a horse hits 100% age it slowly loses durability and becomes useless, so mounts are consumable over time.
What is the Stablemaster for?
Found near the gatehouses of main cities. Stables start with 3 mount slots (buy more). There you spend mount attribute points, release mounts, switch your active mount, and train a mount (refreshes every 22 hours).
