Reading the world of Stoneholm

Every location in Gloria Victis sits on one island, Stoneholm, the contested battlefield the three nations fight over. The 24 entries here cover the holdings that matter for territory control: the three starter towns and their safe forts (Mereley / Fort Mereley for Ismir, Dunfen / Fort Dunfen for Midland, Baalhammon / Fort Serai for Sangmar), the capturable castles and forts in the middle, the high-level temples, mixed towns like Tenebrok, and points of interest such as Leaktown, Scarsdale and Black Sickle Village.

The controlling faction column tells you whose ground you're on. Starter towns and their forts are home turf and cannot be attacked; most of the central map is Contested — the partial-loot ground where holdings change hands by siege. Bandit POIs sit outside the nation system entirely. For how those captures actually work, see Territory & Sieges.

Holdings level up

Captured holdings aren't static. Per the wiki, castles and temples can be upgraded all the way to level 6 — and temples field some of the highest-level guards in the game — while forts cap at level 4 and mixed "Other's" towns climb from level 3 to 6. Higher level means stronger walls and tougher guards, so a well-developed castle is a far harder siege target than a fresh one. The safe starter towns and their forts sit outside this system: they can't be attacked at all.
